Hello,
Thanks for stopping at Kagad Bags. Now that you are here, may I tell you a story? It is about me and the paper bag. I’ve always wanted to do something for nature, give something back to the Earth from whom we take soo much! I’ve always hated the plastic cover. It is such a terrible thing to have! I know, I know, life these days cannot go without it, but it is possible to reduce the dependency bit by bit.
I don’t remember the usage of the plastic cover in my childhood days! The provision shopkeeper would fill the stuff into a big cone made out of newspaper then tie it all around with a jute thread! All the customers then would carry their own cotton bag for shopping! But now, can’t imagine life without a plastic bag. It will I am sure plastic will enter (or has probably entered) the food chain sometime!
I carry my own bag while shopping and try convincing others too. May’10, I suddenly felt inspired to do something green, felt like giving my thoughts of making a difference a concrete shape. What did I do? Made some basic newspaper bags. Now why newspapers? They are readily available, trees are anyways cut, so why not make most use of the paper before pushing them into the recycle bin? The bags that I made were given to a toyshop on 5thJune’10 (World Environment Day), hence starting the journey of making newspaper bags!

As demands started to increase, I required help. Women from economically underprivileged backgrounds now make these bags at their homes during their free time. The raw materials are given and the finished bags collected from their homes. The extra income they get by making bags helps them a lot. It is a win-win situation for all, they earn money, paper bags are made, plastic gets avoided and me, a happy soul! J
Kagad Bags, my dream which I really want to make big! Use as many eco friendly options as possible, use the newspaper as much before it is recycled!
The difference is YOU!
Realize it!!!

Super! Yes, every little helps! If everybody realises this and does his and her bit, we are for sure heading towards a cleaner, greener tomorrow!
Carry your own bag, the simplest way to begin with!

Hi Rohini,
Its really a great effort to do something for our planet and make our future generations feel proud of us! I would like to contribute my best in this effort, so do let me know how I can help you in this.
Asha
Hi Asha,
Thanks for your comment and help. Yes, it is our duty I must say to save this planet. The best thing that I would suggest is that you buy bags from us and distribute them or give it to some shop around your home. Some of my friends buy bags from us from the money that they get after they sell their newspapers and give the bags for free to some shop near their homes. Write to me at rohini@kagadbags.com, would be happy to get in touch.
Thanks!
Hello Rohini,
It was great connecting with you today and we feel you are doing a good job with a gr8 initiative.
Keep it up!!!

Hi,
We just got one of your paper bags (with return gifts) in a birthday party here in Singapore… It was nice to see your creation and all the more nice to know that such a craft helps the underprivileged.
Good luck and hope to see more.

Nidhi
